The Porous City

Porous city is a concept and the name of the publication by the Milanese Secchi-Vigano architecture team. The theme emerged extensively in their proposal for the Grand Paris, commissioned by Sarkozy in 2008. An endeavor inviting 10 international teams to imagine what the "21st century post-Kyoto metropolis" would be about. In their work, porosity refers to  the importance of water and permeability but also of infiltration and connectivity into the city's contemporary condition of enclavement .
